CHAPEL HILL, NC, USA, May 26, 2022– World Thrombosis Day, an awareness campaign led by the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), is proud to announce that it has been awarded the 2022 Silver Anvil Award for Excellence in Global Communications from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA).

The PRSA Silver Anvil Awards are among the most prestigious public relations honors in the United States that recognize excellence in the field of communications and media relations. Specifically, this award honors the global outreach efforts of the World Thrombosis Day 2021 campaign.

Recognized on October 13, World Thrombosis Day focuses attention on the often overlooked and misunderstood condition of thrombosis, also known as blood clots. The mission of the campaign is to increase the awareness of thrombosis, including its causes, risk factors, signs, symptoms, evidence-based prevention and treatment.

“On behalf of the entire World Thrombosis Day team, we are so proud to receive a Silver Anvil Award, which celebrates the best strategic public relations campaigns of the year and outstanding organizational excellence,” said Melissa DiMercurio, Media Relations Manager at the ISTH. “We want to thank all of our World Thrombosis Day partners and supporters across the globe for their dedication to the campaign’s mission to increase awareness of thrombosis. We also owe a special thank you to the World Thrombosis Day Scientific Steering Committee for its commitment to education through its research and sharing expertise for media commentary throughout the campaign year.”
