World Thrombosis Day 2026 – Thrombosis Awareness and Prevention Event
13 October, 2026
12:00am -

To mark World Thrombosis Day 2026, our hospital is organising an interactive thrombosis awareness event to educate patients, visitors and healthcare professionals about venous thromboembolism (VTE), including deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE).
The event will feature an engaging educational stand with visual displays, information leaflets, interactive quizzes and discussions with healthcare professionals. Key messages will focus on recognising the signs and symptoms of blood clots, understanding individual risk factors, preventing hospital-associated thrombosis and seeking prompt medical attention when symptoms occur.
Special emphasis will be placed on patient empowerment, early recognition, effective prevention and the importance of VTE risk assessment in hospital settings.
As part of this year’s theme, the event will also highlight thrombosis risks that may affect women throughout their lives, including during pregnancy and the postnatal period, while using hormonal contraception or hormone replacement therapy, and around surgery or periods of reduced mobility. Visitors will be encouraged to discuss their individual risk factors with a healthcare professional and seek advice about appropriate prevention.
Through interactive learning and direct engagement, we aim to improve public awareness, strengthen patient safety and encourage healthcare professionals to promote evidence-based thrombosis prevention.
The event will also provide an opportunity to assess participants’ understanding, gather feedback and measure the reach and impact of our awareness campaign.
Our goal is to ensure that more people recognise the risks of thrombosis, understand how blood clots can be prevented and know when to seek urgent medical help.
