Erich V. De Paula received his medical degree and his training in hematology at University of Campinas, in Brazil, which he joined as a faculty member in 2012. Since the end of his training as a hematologist in 2002 his career has been focused on research and education encompassing several clinical, laboratory and translational aspects of hemostasis and thrombosis.

Currently, he serves as the Vice Dean and Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Campinas, as well as the coordinator of the Unit of Assessment and Research in Medical Education of University of Campinas School of Medicine.

He is a member of many professional organizations including the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), the American Society of Hematology (ASH), the Brazilian Association of Hematology and Hemotherapy (ABHH), serving as chair of the Thrombosis and Hemostasis Committee since 2017, and the recently created Brazilian Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (BSTH).
