Erich V. De Paula received his medical degree and his training in hematology at University of Campinas, in Brazil, which he joined as a faculty member in 2012. Since the end of his training as a hematologist in 2002 his career has been focused on research and education encompassing several clinical, laboratory and translational aspects of hemostasis and thrombosis.

Currently, he serves as the Vice Dean and Associate Professor of Hematology at the University of Campinas School of Medicine, as well as the head of the Laboratory of Hemostasis and Inflammation of the same institution. Since 2022 he also serves as Deputy Editor of “Hematology, Transfusion and Cell Therapy” the official journal of the Brazilian Association of Hematology and Hemotherapy.

He is a member of many professional organizations including the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), the Latin American Cooperative Group of Hemostasis and Thrombosis (CLAHT), the Brazilian Association of Hematology and Hemotherapy (ABHH) and the recently created Brazilian Society of Thrombosis and Hemostasis (BSTH).
