Partner highlight: University of Verona and AOUI Verona

October 7, 2026

Travelers often hear about blood clots and long flights but rarely get clear guidance they can use. A team of clinicians in Verona, Italy set out to change that.

The Coagulation & Thrombosis Group, Section of Internal Medicine B, Department of Medicine, University of Verona, AOUI Verona developed “Traveler’s thrombosis: No fear” for World Thrombosis Day. The program translates current evidence into plain language and practical steps, with a reassuring message at its core: no fear, just follow a few tips.

What the partners created

  • A short educational video that explains traveler’s thrombosis, who is at higher risk and what travelers can do.
  • A printable brochure covering causes, warning signs, risk factors, and prevention tips, available in seven languages, including Italian, English, Spanish, French, Chinese, German, and Arabic. Download the brochures below.
  • A dedicated website, travelersthrombosis-nofear.com, that brings all the materials together in one place.

The Verona team worked with the University of Padova Department of Medicine, Azienda Ospedale Università Padova, the SUEM 118 emergency medical service, Venezia Airport and Verona Airport to bring the program to travelers. Viatris supports it with an unrestricted educational grant.
