The course “Modern Approaches in Understanding the Mechanisms of Thrombophilia: From Scientific Research to Clinical Practice” aims to present the latest insights in the field of hemostasis and thrombophilia, with a special emphasis on translating contemporary research methods into clinical practice. The program includes an integrated overview of new molecular mechanisms of disease, modern genomic technologies, functional hemostasis assays, and structural analysis of the fibrin clot.
A special focus will be placed on new pathophysiological concepts, including antithrombin resistance and the vWF–FVIII axis, as well as their significance in the development of thrombotic disorders. The program will highlight the applications of Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) technologies in identifying genetic variants and understanding the complex molecular basis of thrombophilia.
Additionally, the program will cover the importance of functional and morphological biomarkers of hemostasis, including the analysis of fibrin clot structure and density, as well as the application of global functional tests such as the Overall Hemostatic Potential (OHP) assay and clot turbidity assay. These approaches enable a deeper understanding of hemostatic potential and the assessment of thrombotic risk beyond standard laboratory parameters.
The course also integrates modern concepts of personalized medicine by combining molecular, functional and structural data to enhance diagnostics and clinical decision-making in patients with thrombophilia. In doing so, it bridges basic scientific research with clinical application and contemporary diagnostic strategies.
This continuing education course is intended for physicians and researchers working in the field of hemostasis disorders, aiming to advance knowledge of modern diagnostic approaches and their practical application in assessing thrombotic risk and managing patients.
