World Thrombosis Day 2025

Join the Head to Toe Challenge and help raise awareness worldwide

Join thousands worldwide in the World Thrombosis Day #HeadtoToe challenge and help raise awareness about blood clots and how they can affect the entire body. Create a short video of yourself doing the classic children’s song “Head, shoulders, knees and toes” and share it on social media and sign the WTD Pledge to prevent thrombosis and protect your health.

Blood clots are deeply connected to major chronic conditions, such as heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and obesity and the #HeadtoToe challenge uses the familiar movements of the beloved children’s song to demonstrate how thrombosis affects your entire body from head to toe. When you touch each body part—your head, shoulders, knees and toes—you’re showing others how blood clot prevention protects your whole body and helps prevent deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism

Why this matters:

Blood clots are more than just a circulatory issue. They are deeply connected to major chronic conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity.
The World Thrombosis Day theme of From Head to Toe, Take Control: Prevent Thrombosis, Protect Your Health highlights these critical connections, empowering individuals to take action in preventing thrombosis and improving their overall health.

How to participate in the Head to Toe Challenge

Step 1: Participate solo or invite others to join

Record a video on your own, or invite others to participate. Bring together family members, friends, colleagues and pets to be part of your video. The more people involved, the greater the impact.

Step 2: Film your version of the song

The challenge is set to the rhythm of the children’s classic song “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes,” but you can find lot of remixes on TikTok or Instagram. Practice your video before recording. Get creative and record a short video of you and/or your group performing your own version of the song. This is your chance to be creative, whether you’re singing, dancing, clapping or acting it out. We recommend videos that are one (1) minute or less in length for maximum viral potential.

Step 3: Post and share your video

Upload your video to social media platforms including Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X (Twitter), LinkedIn or YouTube. Be sure to include the official campaign hashtags (#WTDay25 and #HeadtoToe) so we can share your video on the official World Thrombosis Day channels. Also, tag World Thrombosis Day to maximize visibility!

Step 4: Sign the Pledge:

Take the pledge to prevent thrombosis and protect your health.

Step 5: Encourage others to join

Tag family, friends, colleagues, other departments and organizations and challenge them to participate in the #HeadtoToe Challenge.
