NBC’s The Voice Contestant Janice Freeman Dies from Blood Clot

CHAPEL HILL, NC, USA, March 4, 2019 – Janice Freeman, former contestant on NBC’s The Voice, has died from a blood clot and complications from pneumonia, according to multiple reports. The 33-year-old fan favorite competed on the NBC reality show in 2017 and was known for her powerhouse vocals. Freeman passed away on Saturday, March 2, from a blood clot and “an extreme case” of pneumonia, according to a statement on Freeman’s Twitter account. Additional details about the cause of death have not yet been released. 

World Thrombosis Day, a campaign of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis, is recognized on 13 October and focuses attention on the often overlooked and misunderstood condition of thrombosis, which is the formation of a blood clot in a blood vessel. The World Thrombosis Day campaign is led by a global steering committee of 13 medical experts who are available to provide commentary about blood clots, including the risk factors, signs, symptoms, and prevention.
