How to Get Involved in World Thrombosis Day 2017

Do you want to help make a difference around the world? Join the World Thrombosis Day (WTD) global movement to educate others about the risk factors, signs, and symptoms of blood clots. Awareness and education are critical to saving lives around the world. With WTD 2017 less than three months away on 13 October, it’s time to start planning how you will recognize and celebrate WTD this year. Here’s how to get started:

Are you new to the WTD campaign? Watch this video featuring WTD Chairman Dr. Gary Raskob to learn about WTD, its impact to date, and what lies ahead for the campaign. With more than 815 current partners, we are dedicated to increasing our global footprint by welcoming a total of 1,000 partners by 13 October. We need your help! Join the WTD campaign as an official partner and encourage your network to join. Who should become a partner? Hospitals, clinics, higher education institutions, research centers, nonprofit organizations, societies, small businesses and individuals around the world. Remember, becoming a partner is free! Plan Your Event for 13 October

As a WTD partner and supporter, creativity and capacity are crucial to engaging the public on or around 13 October. Events to raise awareness can be held in a multitude of venues. To get started, view our list of 100 WTD activity ideas for 13 October. Pick a date and time and reserve a location. Set goals for the event and if you need a sponsor, research local organizations and companies with a vested interest. Gather friends and family to help with planning and promote! Promote Your Event to New Audiences

Add your event to the WTD website and increase your promotional footprint! Whether your event is local or national, it’s important to submit it to campaign headquarters so that your efforts will be included in the global impact of the WTD 2017 campaign. 

Participate in Global WTD Online Activities

You’re invited to join us for two exciting digital WTD activities this October. Both are free and all are welcome to attend. The WTD 2017 Webinar on Thursday, 12 October, 11:00 am – 12:00 pm US ET, will feature an interactive discussion on the advances in reducing the disease burden of thrombosis. Join moderator Dr. Gary Raskob and presenter Dr. C. Michael Gibson for this insightful webinar and Q&A session. Register today! Plan to also participate in the WTD 2017 Twitter Chat on Friday, 13 October, from 12:00-1:00 pm US ET. Celebrate WTD 2017 and interact with others on Twitter in this year’s #ClotChat. Social media is a fun, free way to get involved in WTD 2017 and show your support. Follow WTD on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, and YouTube. Use this year’s hashtags in your posts: #WTDay17, #KnowThrombosis, #KeepLifeFlowing and make sure to tag the campaign so we can share. Are you a thrombosis patient or survivor? Show your pride and share your story by submitting a WTD Survivor Selfie. Plus, stay tuned for more ways to support WTD online, including the launch of a new WTD profile picture badge, live broadcast, and more!
