Call for Nominations: WTD 2019 Thrombosis Ambassador of the Year Award

Do you know a passionate thrombosis awareness advocate who should be recognized? Nominate him/her for the World Thrombosis Day (WTD) 2019 Thrombosis Ambassador of the Year Award. This exciting award program recognizes a passionate ambassador who is dedicated to building awareness about thrombosis in his/her community, region, country, and/or globally.

Eligible candidates demonstrate a willingness to achieve the mission of the WTD campaign and motivate others within thrombosis advocacy programs in communities and countries around the world by exhibiting innovative approaches to raise awareness and accomplish advocacy goals. Who is Eligible?
Eligible candidates include thrombosis advocates, thrombosis patients, thrombosis survivors, community volunteers, and/or thrombosis-related organization representatives. An ideal candidate is also a WTD registered partner (although not required). Self-nominations will not be accepted. Please note that healthcare professionals are not eligible to be nominated. 

Nominees must lead or help support at least two (2) thrombosis awareness activities pear year (either online or in-person) and make a meaningful impact. Examples include: organizing awareness activities in the local community, sharing personal story with others, volunteering or working for an advocacy organization, volunteering or working in the healthcare field, sharing thrombosis educational resources, etc. Nominees should be comfortable speaking to others about thrombosis awareness and the reason why he/she is dedicated to this cause.

Award Recognition and Benefits
The WTD 2019 Thrombosis Ambassador of the Year will be awarded one (1) complimentary full admission and travel expenses to attend the ISTH 2020 Congress in Milan, Italy, and will have the exclusive opportunity to participate in a global WTD session with notable experts from around the world. Please note that the winner is required to attend the ISTH 2020 Congress in Milan, Italy. The ISTH will donate $5,000 USD to a thrombosis charity organization of the winner’s choice. The WTD 2019 Thrombosis Ambassador of the Year will be announced the week of 13 October and will be showcased on the WTD website and other communications platforms. 

How Do I Nominate an Individual?
The call for nominations is open until 1 August 2019. To submit a nomination, please complete the online nomination form. Please note that the award selection committee may contact you for more information about the nominee if needed. Self-nominations will not be accepted. Please note that healthcare professionals are not eligible to be nominated.
