ISTH unveils new ‘Head to Toe Challenge’ for World Thrombosis Day

September 1, 2025

World Thrombosis Day introduces a new initiative this year called the Head to Toe Challenge, inviting people worldwide to record a short video in support of a united mission to raise awareness about blood clots.

Blood clots are more than just a circulatory issue. They are deeply connected to major chronic conditions such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and obesity. The World Thrombosis Day theme of From Head to Toe, Take Control: Prevent Thrombosis, Protect Your Health highlights these critical connections, empowering individuals to take action in preventing thrombosis and improving their overall health.

You can make a difference and participate in the Head to Toe Challenge. Get ready to join the movement by recording your own fun and creative video.

Follow the steps below to participate:

  1. Participate solo or invite others to join
Participants can record a video solo or invite others to participate in your video. Bring together family members, friends and colleagues to be part of your video.
  2. Film your version of the song
The challenge is set to the rhythm of the children’s classic song “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.” Practice your video before recording. Get creative and record a short video of you and/or your group performing your own version of the beloved campaign song. This is your chance to be creative, whether you’re singing, dancing, clapping, or acting it out. We recommend videos that are one (1) minute or less in length.
  3. Post and share your video
Upload your video to social media (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, LinkedIn, or YouTube). Be sure to include the official campaign hashtags so we can share your video on the official World Thrombosis Day channels: #WTDay25 and #HeadtoToe. Also tag the World Thrombosis Day social media accounts.
  4. Encourage others to join
Tag family, friends, colleagues and other organizations to inspire them to participate too.

By sharing your video, you’ll help raise awareness about thrombosis prevention and support the global effort to save lives.
