Partner Spotlight: World Thrombosis Day in Nigeria

May 9, 2022

Partners at the University College Hospital Ibadan in Nigeria celebrated WTD 2021 by hosting a healthcare lecture, public awareness activities on the radio, and sharing a patient testimony.

The lecture focused on making the hospital a “VTE Safety Zone,” and shared presentations on the burden of hospital-associated VTE, a hands-on risk assessment tool to use at the hospital, the role of nurses in VTE care, and thromboprophylaxis practice among physicians. A patient diagnosed with thrombophilia shared her personal journey of thrombosis care.

In order to capture the attention of the genral public, WTD itnerviews were conducted on two of the country’s most popular radio stations. The segments were featured in the regular health on-air programs and shared in both the local language and English. See photos below from the various WTD activities.

Thank you to the Department of Hematology team in Ibadan, Nigeria, for its partnership and support of the WTD campaign!
