World Thrombosis Day Welcomes Kamila Jaszczor as Steering Committee Patient Representative
February 18th, 2020
The World Thrombosis Day (WTD) campaign is pleased to welcome Kamila Jaszczor of Poland as a patient representative member of its global Steering Committee. As the second patient representative to join the WTD Steering Committee, Jaszczor will serve a term of two years, providing a patient voice and perspective for the WTD campaign and the strategic planning of the committee. The WTD Steering Committee is comprised of 15 global scientific experts and led by Chair Prof. Beverley Hunt, OBE.
Jaszczor was recognized as the WTD 2019 Ambassador of the Year in October 2019 for her accomplishments in thrombosis advocacy and awareness in her home country of Poland. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Thrombophilia & Thrombosis Foundation in Poland.
In 2010, after being diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis (DVT), Jaszczor discovered that there was limited information available online about blood clots, especially in her home country of Poland. Wanting to change the patient experience and to build much needed awareness, she created the online advocacy organization Trombofilia Polska, becoming Poland's first and only social network dedicated to disseminating knowledge about thrombosis to the community.
Jaszczor holds MCs in Sanitary Engineering from Gdańsk University of Technology in Poland and a postgraduate diploma in Science, Technique and Ethics from the University of Gdansk. She has worked with the State Sanitary Inspectorate since 2007, serving as the precautionary sanitary inspection senior assistant at Poviat Sanitary and Epidemiological Station in Kwidzyn.
Jaszczor is passionate about thrombosis and thrombophilia education, especially for pregnant women, as well as technological innovations and cycling. She resides with her family and black cat in Kwidzyn, Poland. To learn more about Jaszczor, click here.
